Moonlight Madness

Thursday, April 13

Hey, if you missed the first Moonlight Ride, Thursday night, April 13th,  you missed a fun ride. It was a perfect night to be out. The temperature was a Summer-like 75 degrees and, although I brought my windbreaker, I never thought of putting it on. We had a crowd of around 20 and it was a brisk, but conversational good time.
Leaving Sertoma Park around 7:30, we had only light winds and sunshine, enjoying the great sunset, looping the full trail, then stopping at Omar's for ice cream. (Ah, there is just something about eating ice cream, guilt-free, in full LYCRA that completes a great bike ride!)
We finished the ride, zipping down Main Street, through Fall's Park, and south on the bike trail to finish back at Sertoma Park. The trail was in great shape, considering all the rain we had, with only one or two small detours, due to some water standing on the trail around Yankton Trail Park Soccer Fields, and a very small gravel stretch on the NW side. We enjoyed very clear skies for the whole ride and finished by the light of the FULL MOON! By the time we returned to Sertoma Park, around 9:15, it was still in the mid 60's with calm winds. What a great way to start the bicycling season.    ~Marilyn Zimmermann
